Weigh In

We went to Jaylee's check up and she is almost 7 months old. She weighs 14lbs 4oz (10%) and is 26 inches (45%) My biggest concern at this appointment was that she does not eat solid foods very well. She spits out almost everything we feed her and she gets a look on her face like it is disgusting. So I've tried everything I can think of. I tried mixing rice cereal with some baby fruits, breast milk, formula, smashed bananas. Then I tried mixed grain cereal with all of the above. I've tried it thin, thick, in a bottle, in a sippy cup and with a spoon. I've tried giving her just the baby fruits and vegetables without the cereal. The only solid thing she likes to snack on is animal crackers. So I told the Pediatrician this and he just looked at me with a blank stare, like he had never heard of a baby not wanting solid food. So he suggested this, LET HER FEED HERSELF THE CEREAL!! Can I just say it was the biggest mess ever. She did enjoy it though and I think she did eat some of it. Sheridyn was so worried about her making a mess, she was cleaning up around her with a rag. It was pretty funny. Well those of you who know rice cereal it is like glue! So I rinsed her off in the sink and gave her a bath that night and in the morning I still found rice cereal on her! I don't think we will be doing this every night. Anyone ever had this problem with their baby? I could use some suggestions. I really don't want to nurse her the rest of my life and she will not sleep more than 2 -3 hours at time at night because she wants to eat! And she will not take a bottle.

MESSY, but she loved it!

ha ha ha ha. Wish I could have been there to see the MESS!!!!!!!! I love it. She looks so happy in the picture! Oh my. I don't know what we are going to do with that baby! I hope that you hold up Brit. 2-3 hours of sleep and getting up every time just doesn't go good with your health! Wish I could dream up a solution!

my twins didnt really like solids either. Especially Jeter. Everytime We would feed him he looked like we were giving him posion! so my mom and I started to make all thier baby food and now they LOVE it. its so easy to just to pull it out of the freezer... but im sure you have already tried that... I love the advice your peditrician gave. hahah. So cute

Stockton was ALLERGIC to baby food. So we never did baby food at all - the cereals, but that's it. We just went straight to solid foods -- steamed veggies cut into small pieces, soft fruit pieces, etc. I LOVED it -- no messy baby food! Anyway, maybe that's worth a try -- less messy for sure! But she's so stinkin' cute in that picture! Love it!

Sorry she doesn't like eating solids. Mataya didn't like it at first either. One day when I picked her up from my sister in laws, she said Mataya had not eaten ANYTHING all day. She wouldn't take a bottle and wouldn't eat any cereal. I cried and wanted to quit my job. But one day it just clicked. I kept trying and now she LOVES anything on a spoon. Even peas! Yuck! Hang in there:) PS Sheridyn is seriously my favorite kid in primary. She is suck a little doll. She is sweet and helpful. I love her!
